We are Biblical in our practice, unified by one standard for faith and conduct - The Holy Bible. We stand uncompromisingly for the inerrant, inspired Word of God, it is what we preach, it is what we teach, it is what we believe and live.
We are Independent in our government in that we are not controlled by any denominational body outside our own membership, recognizing our ensemble as Christ's church, guided by the principles of Scripture, and empowered by the Holy Spirit.
We are Loving in our character, taking seriously the command to love each other just as Jesus Christ loves us.
We are Evangelistic in our relationships, endeavoring to develop redemptive relationships in order to speak the Good News of Jesus Christ. We reach them to teach them and then teach them to reach them.
We are Educational in our approach and we seek more than decisions for Christ. Our call is to make disciples for Christ. Our concern is for a membership that acts out of conviction and not merely convenience.
We are Missionary in our spirit, and we take seriously Christ's command to go into all the world and make disciples. We desire to equip, send and support missionaries to proclaim Christ and establish churches around the world.
When you search the scriptures you will find at least five purposes for the church which God desires us to be actively pursuing to be a healthy, thriving church.
1. Our purpose is to worship God, (John 4:23-24; Acts 2:42-47). This is filling our mind with the works of God and being filled with awe for who He is This is a key aspect of everything else; they are done as worship to God.
2. Our purpose is to be actively making disciples (Matt 28:16-20; Col 3:16; Eph 4:15-16). This means being devoted to the teaching of the God’s word, filled with the desire to know God more and more. We are to be actively teaching one another.
3. Our purpose is to be actively seeking the lost, evangelism, (Acts 2:47; 2 Cor 5:20-21; 1 Thess 1:5-2:12). This is also part of being fruitful and multiplying.
4. Our purpose is to be actively ministering to one another; living out the one another’s in the Bible. This is developing ever deepening relationship with one another around the word of God and prayer. (1 Thess 5:14-16; Gal 5:13, 6:2).
On August 15th, 1937, God started a great work on the corner of Tisdel and 21 Mile Road in Sand Lake, Michigan; which is now known as Huggard Bible Church. He started this work through the dedication of a small group of people and the church continues to give praise and glory to His name to this day.
Huggard started as a Sunday School Class in an old school house on the corner. That schoolhouse later burned down and was rebuilt. By that time Huggard had a basement built and the school classes were held in the church basement while they built a new school. In 1945 the Sunday School was organized into a church called Huggard Gospel Center, later changed to Huggard Bible Church.
Throughout the years, God has blessed the church with many dedicated pastors and servants to carry out the work of Christ in the hearts and lives of the community and encourage the body of Christ through the proclamation and application of Gods Word. God has blessed Huggard Bible Church with a great facility, which over the years has grown to meet the growing numerical needs. More important than numbers and programs and structures, however, is that a foundation for the spiritual life of Huggard Bible Church has been and continues to be built. This foundation includes sound doctrine, loving fellowship, and active service. We are convinced that God's faithfulness to us will continue in the future as we remain faithful to Him and His Word.
